Community Guidelines

Last updated: 1 December 2025

Selam Ride is built on mutual respect between riders, drivers, and our community. These guidelines ensure everyone has a safe and positive experience on our platform.

1. Respect for All Users

Treat everyone on our platform — riders, drivers, delivery personnel, and support staff — with dignity and respect. We have zero tolerance for:

  • Verbal or physical abuse, harassment, or intimidation
  • Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, or sexual orientation
  • Sexual harassment or inappropriate conduct
  • Threatening behaviour in any form

2. For Riders

  • Be ready at your pickup location on time
  • Do not request drivers to violate traffic laws or speed limits
  • Do not bring open food, alcohol, or illegal substances into vehicles
  • Wear seatbelts and encourage safe driving
  • Pay the agreed fare promptly and honestly
  • Provide honest ratings — do not rate drivers negatively out of spite

3. For Drivers

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and roadworthy vehicle
  • Follow all traffic laws and speed limits
  • Do not cancel trips unnecessarily or excessively
  • Provide accurate arrival times
  • Never request additional payment beyond the app fare
  • Keep personal contact information private from riders
  • Report unsafe rider behaviour to Selam Ride immediately

4. Ratings and Feedback

After every trip, both riders and drivers may rate each other. Ratings must be honest and based on the actual trip experience. Manipulating the rating system in any way will result in account suspension.

5. Safety Reporting

If you witness or experience any unsafe behaviour on our platform, report it immediately via the in-app emergency button, by calling us at +256 740 797 548, or by emailing info.selamrideuganda@gmail.com.

6. Consequences of Violations

Violations of these guidelines may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account removal from our platform. Serious violations including violence or criminal activity will be reported to Ugandan law enforcement.
